M1 (Subsidence)

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what proposals his Department has to deal with the subsidence problems at the southern end of the M1.

We are just completing remedial work on the worst area of subsidence between junctions 4 and 3 on the southbound carriageway of the M1. There are a number of areas with minor subsidence which do not warrant immediate attention. We are keeping these under surveillance.
