To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will provide the average registered rents and change on previous rent for (a) housing association tenancies, (b) private furnished tenancies and (c) private unfurnished tenancies, in a form similar to the table on page 37 of "Scottish Housing Statistics 1986".

The information available for 1987 is for the first half year only as follows:

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will list the average weekly household expenditure on rent as a percentage of average weekly earnings of tenants of (a) local authorities, (b) the Scottish Special Housing Association, (c) new town development corporations, (d) housing associations and (e) other private rented accommodation;(2) if he will publish a table in the

Official Report showing the gross average weekly earnings of tenants renting accommodation from (a) local authorities, (b) the Scottish Special Housing Association, (c) the new town development corporations, (d) housing associations and (e) other private landlords.

The information requested is not available. Scottish Development Department statistical bulletin HSIU No. 29, "Public Sector Rents in Scotland 1986–87", a copy of which is available in the House Library, contains information comparing local authority average weekly rents with the average gross weekly earnings of a full-time adult manual employee in Scotland.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the estimated numbers of tenants of (a) local authorities, (b) the Scottish Special Housing Association, (c) new town development corporations, (d) housing associations and (e) other private sector landlords who are in receipt of rent rebates or rent allowances for (i) certificated cases and (ii) standard cases.
