To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make an official visit to Solihull hospital in order to discuss prospects for the new district general hospital.

We have no plans to do so. As my hon. Friend will be aware, the management of major new schemes in the capital building programme is the responsibility of the regional health authority. I understand however that building work on the new hospital is due to start in July 1991.
