To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will provide a breakdown of the numbers of (a) flats and (b) houses which are (i) two apartments or less, (ii) three apartments, (iii) four apartments and (iv) five apartments or more, for each of the following (a) local authorities, (b) the Scottish Special Housing Association, (c) new town development corporations, (d) housing associations and (e) other private rented accommodation;(2) if he will provide the average weekly rents for

(a) flats and (b) houses which are (i) two apartments or less, (ii) three apartments, (iii) four apartments and (iv) five apartments or more, for each of the following (a) local authorities, (b) the Scottish Special Housing Association, (c) new town development corporations, (d) housing associations and (e) other private rented accommodation;

Information on the breakdown of numbers of dwellings and average weekly rents into houses and flats is not collected centrally. Scottish Development Department statistical bulletin HSIU No. 29 "Public Sector Rents in Scotland 1986–87", available in the House Library, contains information on average annual rents by dwelling size.
