To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what financial support he gave to World Non-Smokers Day on 17 November.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services when he expects to publish the Froggatt committee report on smoking and health.

The independent scientific committee on smoking and health is expected to present its fourth report to Ministers around the turn of the year. A decision on publication will be taken after it has been received.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what will be the cost to public funds of National No-Smoking Day 1988.

I understand that the Health Education Authority will spend approximately £80,000 including the costs of evaluating the results. I hope to lend my personal support to No-Smoking Day 1988 as smoking is the single most important risk factor in lung cancer and other preventable diseases.
