To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he expects to raise any money from the sale of any British Telecom shares in 1988–89.

[holding answer 14 December 1987]: No decisions have yet been taken about individual sales in 1988–89.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the value of his remaining shareholding in British Telecom.

[holding answer 14 December 1987]: At market close on 14 December the value of the Government's residual holding of ordinary and preference shares in British Telecom was some £6·65 billion.
