Claims (Transitional Protection)

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give an estimate of the total number of claimants next April who will receive transitional protection (a) above and (b) below £10 per week.

It is estimated that at the point of change next April around 40,000 income support claimants will receive a normal transitional addition of £10 per week or more and that 1·38 million will receive a normal transitional addition of less than £10 per week.
