To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what was the total United Kingdom expenditure on each of the major capital grants schemes for agriculture in 1986–87;(2) what was the total United Kingdom expenditure on major capital grant schemes for agriculture in the less favoured areas and non-less favoured areas, respectively.

of the main capital grant schemes for agriculture in 1986 in less favoured areas and non-less favoured areas, respectively and for the United Kingdom and England and Wales, respectively.

The agriculture improvement scheme is the only scheme now open to new applicants. Information on take-up under both elements of the scheme in 1986–87 is as follows:
