To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what is the latest figure for the number of staff presently employed in the press and public relations office of his Department; and what is the number planned to be employed at this point in 1988.

[holding answer 17 December 1987]: Sixty people are presently employed in the information division of my Department. It is anticipated that 67 people will be employed in the division in a year's time.

Note: These figures are likely to change following the transfer of staff from the employment group of the MSC to the Department of Employment.

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what is the latest figure for the number of staff presently employed in the press and public relations office of the Manpower Services Commission; and what is the number planned to be employed at this point in 1988.

[holding answer 17 December 1987]: Sixty one and a half people are presently employed in the press and public relations office of the Manpower Services Commission. It is anticipated that 571/2 will be employed in a year's time.

Note: These figures are likely to change following the transfer of staff from the employment group of the MSC to the Department of Employment.

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what is the latest figure for the estimated spending in 1987–88 by his Department on (a) television advertising, (b) radio advertising, (c) newspaper advertising and (d) other promotional material; and what are the estimated expenditures in each area for 1988–89.
