To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the revenue yields in 1987–88 from corporation tax on companies' capital gains, indicating the extent to which the estimate has been affected by the falls in share prices in recent months.

About £800 million. Receipts in 1987–88 relate to disposals in earlier years and are therefore unaffected by the recent falls in share prices.
