To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimate of the cost of the long-term treatment of cancer patients as a result of their cancer not being detected at an early stage.

The Department has not made any such estimate. Our priority is to encourage the prevention and early detection of cancer wherever possible because of the benefit this has for patients.
