To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list in descending order those 100 local authorities with the highest number of planning applications sent on appeal to the Secretary of State, and the number of appeals for each local authority in the last three available years.

The following table lists, in descending order, the 100 local authorities against whose decisions the highest number of planning appeals were lodged in 1986. In addition, the table includes for each authority the number of planning appeals lodged in 1984 and 1985.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish in the Official Report the number of planning application appeals he has received from applicants in the Chelmsford local authority area in the last three available years; and how many appeals were successful.

The table shows the number of planning appeals received against decisions of Chelmsford borough council in each year from 1 January 1984 to 31 December 1986, and the number allowed:
