To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) if he will refuse to sanction the sale of Crosville Motor Services to Carlton PSV Ltd. without guarantees that Crewe bus station will remain in continuous use as a bus station;(2) what undertakings have been received from Carlton PSV Ltd. on the maintenance of suitable bus stations and garages if it is allowed to complete its purchase of Crosville Motors.

In accordance with its statutory duties the National Bus Company seeks to sell its local bus operating subsidiaries only to parties who will continue to operate bus services. Responsibility for the negotiation of individual sales rests with NBC. We have not yet received NBC's proposals for the sale of Crosville Motor Services, and therefore I cannot speculate on its recommendation or any eventual decision.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) if he will make a statement on the proposed sale of Crosville Motor Services to Carlton PSV Ltd.;(2) if he will make it his policy not to approve any recommendation from the National Bus Company for the sale of Crosville Motor Services to Carlton PSV Ltd.

We have not yet received from the National Bus Company any proposals for the sale of its Crosville Motor Services subsidiary. I cannot anticipate or prejudge NBC's recommendation.
