To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services why the information on the identity of doctors carrying out abortions in private sector places approved under the Abortion Act is confidential.

The detail of a person's employment in this field is information which some individuals may not wish to be made publicly available. The Department respects this and treats all such information as confidential. I see no reason to change our practice in this respect.
