To as the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received seeking an amendment of the law relating to tax relief on mortgage interest; and if he will make a statement.

As usual, my right hon. Friend has received a number of representations about the tax relief on mortgage interest. The level of mortgage interest relief has to be fixed each year and will be considered in framing the Budget proposals.
