Supplementary Benefit (Caseload)

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the supplementary benefit caseloads in terms of (i) pensioners, (ii) unemployed claimants paid through unemployment benefit offices and (iii) other supplementary allowance cases (a) for each local office and (b) nationally, for the 32-week period ended on 7 April 1987.

Information is not available in the precise form requested.A breakdown by claimant category and local office of the number of people receiving supplementary benefit on 10 February 1987 is available in the "Analysis of Supplementary Benefit Claimants as at 10 February and 28 July 1987", a copy of which is in the Library.The national totals for each category of claimant is as follows for 10 February:
