Mentally Handicapped Patients (Salford)

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many mentally handicapped patients have been registered in the Salford heath authority area for each year from 1979 to 1987;

(2) if he will give the levels of staff, by National Health Service category, working with mentally handicapped patients in the Salford area for each year from 1979 to 1987.

The information requested since 1982, when the current authority was formed, is given in the tables. Figures for 1987 are not yet available.
