To ask the Attorney-General for what reasons certain records relating to the nuclear tests conducted on Christmas Island during the 1950s have been held back from release under the Public Records Act for 75 years.

It has not been possible, from the information given, to identify the records referred to in the hon. Member's question. In so far as any such records have been withheld from release, they have been so withheld under section 3(4) of section 5(1) of the Public Records Act 1958.
