To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will list, for each Scottish constituency for each year since 1983 (a) the total number of people on the electoral register, (b) the number of young people on the register due to reach the age of 18 years during the currency of the register and the annual percentage increase or decrease for (a) and (b).

I refer the hon. Member to table 1·5 in the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys series EL Nos 10–13 for the years 1983–1986, respectively, and to table 2 in the monitor EL 87/1 for 1987, from which the annual percentage increase or decrease for (a) and (b) may be derived. Copies of these publications are in the Library. Similar information for 1988 is not yet available.
