To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's current policy with regard to the participation of the Khmer Rouge in any future Cambodian Government.

We withdrew recognition from the Pol Pot regime in December 1979 and have no intention of contributing to its re-establishment. We believe that free and fair elections based on United Nations principles offer the best guarantee that the Khmer Rouge does not dominate any future Cambodian Government.
