To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he has any proposals to introduce an obligatory code of practice in connection with all motor car sales; and if he will make a statement.

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he has any proposals for the introduction of a scheme whereby motor traders would be required to provide to purchasers of used motor vehicles essential information concerning history and condition; and if he will make a statement.

No. A pre-sales inspection report for each used car offered for sale is already a requirement of the code of practice for the motor industry which is operated by member of the Motor Agents Association, the Scottish Motor Trade Association and the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
