To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what plans he or his colleagues have to meet the new President of Cyprus.

Neither my right hon. and learned Friend nor I have any immediate plans to meet Mr. Vassiliou, who was elected on 21 February and assumed office on 28 February.


To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealh Affairs if he will make a statement on the latest events in Cyprus.

Following the election of Mr. Vassiliou on 21 February, we hope the United Nations Secretary-General's new permanent special representative will be able to make early progress towards the just and lasting settlement which we all wish to see.
