To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what provisions he plans to make to safeguard the position of drama and live music under any reorganisation of Independent Television;(2) if he will make a statement on the future of Independent Television.

We have been giving careful thought to the recommendations of the Peacock committee on the future of broadcasting and shall announce our conclusions in due course. There will continue to be proper safeguards for the range and quality of programming.
