To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his estimated loss of revenue over the last three years for which figures were available arising from employers collecting national insurance contributions but failing to transfer the same to the Department; and whether he has any plans to tighten existing procedures in this respect.

Reliable estimates of these losses are not available. We have no plans to change the procedures outlined in my reply to the hon. Member for Tooting (Mr. Cox) on 2 February at column 576. However, these are kept under constant review.
