To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster how the international competitiveness of British industry has changed in the last year.

In the third quarter of 1987, the latest period for which data are available, relative unit labour costs in manufacturing were broadly unchanged from their level in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
