To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he proposes to take in the light of the judgments given in the Queen's Bench Division on 9 June 1987 that the guidance given to local authorities in circular 26/85 should be clarified.

We are currently considering whether it would be appropriate, in the light of the judgment in respect of R. v. Camden London Borough Council ex parte Christey, to issue further guidance to local authorities about the imposition of further letting conditions in relation to mandatory home improvement grants.
