To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland which constituency outside Belfast has the highest concentration of heavy industry in Northern Ireland.
Mr. Viggers
Results from the 1984 census of employment show that, outside Belfast, the parliamentary constituency of Antrim, East had the highest total number of employees in the following industries:
- Energy and water supply industries.
- Extraction of minerals and ores (other than fuels); manufacture of metals, mineral products and chemicals.
- Metal goods, engineering and vehicle industries
- Construction industries.
