Mr. Nicholas Bennett
To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has received concerning the replacement of rates by the community charge in respect of self-catering accommodation; and if he will make a statement.
Mr. Grist
After considering representations about the position of self catering accommodation under the new local government finance system we have decided that holiday-let self catering accommodation, which includes services and facilities similar to those provided in a hotel, should remain in rating and be subject to the non-domestic rate. Further consideration is being given to the precise boundary between the domestic and non-domestic sectors.
