Figures are independently rounded to the nearest ten (10) whole time equivalents. Percentage changes are calculated on unrounded figures.

Includes permanent paid, honorary and locum staff. Excludes consultants from non-teaching districts and senior registrars from all districts. Contracts for all senior registrars and for most consultants are held by regional health authorities centrally. There will therefore be more doctors and dentists actually working in the districts than are accounted for in the table.

Includes agency staff.

Includes Professional and Technical, Works, Maintenance and Ambulance Staff (including Officers).

Includes Medical and Dental, Nursing and Midwifery, Professional and Technical, Works, Maintenance, Administrative and Clerical, Ambulance (including Officers) and Ancillary Staff.

Includes staff at Regional Headquarters and HQ Units. Includes Senior Medical and Dental; staff whose contracts are held by the Regional Health Authority (see note (2)).
