To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give the numbers of (a) nurses, (b) doctors and (c) other technical personnel employed by the Pontefract district health authority (i) in the last year for which figures are available and (ii) 10 years previously.

[holding answer 30 November 1987]: Such information as is available is shown in the table. I regret that information to this level of detail is not centrally available for 1976. Figures for medical and dental staff exclude senior registrars and consultants whose contracts are held by the regional health authority, and not by the individual district.
