Mr. Anderson
To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the provision of neonatal facilities in hospitals in Wales.
Mr. Grist
I am pleased that improvements in services for newly born babies and their mothers have been accompanied by a dramatic reduction in the perinatal mortality rate in Wales, which has fallen from 15·6 per 1,000 births in 1979 to 10·3 in 1986.
