To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what steps he is taking to improve the position of elderly householders whose dwellings are in need of repair and whose grant applications have not yet been met.

We are aware of the particular problems elderly home owners face and have made available substantial financial support to establish care and repair home improvement services to assist them in repairing and improving their homes. A number of the changes we have suggested to the home improvement grant arrangements could be of particular help to the elderly.
