Mr. Gwilym Jones
To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what plans he has to expand kidney dialysis treatment in Wales; and if he will make a statement.
Mr. Grist
Kidney dialysis treatment in Wales has expanded rapidly under this Government, and the acceptance rate for new patients is now well above the average for the United Kingdom. Further progress will be made this year with the construction of two more subsidiary renal units in south-east Wales and an expansion of the Morriston hospital unit.
