To ask the Minister for the Arts what assessment he has made of the extent to which plural funding can aid the preservation of Britain's heritage.

I am convinced that the co-operation of public and private interests is essential to preservation of the heritage. The national heritage memorial fund often works in partnership with the private sector in contributing to heritage appeals. Its many successes in recent years demonstrate the value of this approach.
