To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if the full £25 million allocated for waiting list reductions has been spent in 1987–88 and how many operations will have been paid for from this fund.

Health authorities are on course to spend the total £25 million allocated to them in 1987–88 on the treatment of an additional 100,000 in-patient and day cases. Final details will not be available until after the end of the financial year.
