To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment on how many occasions in each of the years since 1979 he has overruled his inspector's advice on planning appeals in (a) Suffolk county and (b) Waveney district.

Between 1 January 1984, the earliest date for which such information is available, arid 31 December 1987, there was only one planning appeal from Suffolk in which the Secretary of State's decision was contrary to the inspector's recommendation, following a public inquiry. That appeal did not come from Waveney.
