To ask the Minister for the Arts what encouragement he is giving to the development of marketing skills by arts organisations.

I continue to be very interested in ways in which arts organisations can be encouraged to market themselves more effectively. As I told the House on 25 February at column 307, I am supporting two new initiatives in 1988–89 which will help arts bodies to become more skilful at marketing: a distance learning package and a programme of training courses for top management.
