To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many local employer networks have been established; and what has been the cost to his Department.

Eighty Seven employer networks had been contracted by 18 March with a further five applications under consideration.Some £3·7 million has been allocated to the project, which is a collaborative venture between the CBI, Association of British Chambers of Commerce and the Manpower Services Commission.
