Contaminated Foodstuffs (Imports)

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what further steps he intends to take to prevent the import of contaminated foodstuffs.

No further steps are required. The powers available under the Imported Food Regulations 1984 relating to the importation of food for human consumption which is unfit, unsound or unwholesome together with those in the Food Act 1984 give the responsible authorities adequate control.
