Police Inquiries (Guidelines)

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give details of the guidelines which are issued to members of local police committees on the action to be taken by individual members when they or their spouses are the subject of police inquiries into matters which may lead to criminal charges being made.

No such guidelines addressed specifically to members of police authorities have been issued by the Scottish Office. I shall send my hon. Friend a copy of the national code of local government conduct.
