To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he next plans to meet representatives of the British banks to discuss Third world debt, and if he will make a statement.

My right hon. and learned Friend regularly meets representatives of major British banks; Third world debt is often discussed. We remain very concerned about the debt problem, but debt owed to commercial banks is a matter for negotiation between the banks and debtor Governments.
