To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many people were made redundant at Devonport dockyard between 1 March and 6 April.

The primary responsibility for redundancy in the royal dockyards rests with the contractors. However, my Department will have paid compensation to 668 ex-Civil Service employees (500 industrials, 168 non-industrials) who left Devonport dockyard in the period 1 March to 6 April this year.
