Mr. Soames
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has as to how many times in the last year the helilanes into London airspace have been closed without warning to those using them.
Mr. Peter Bottomley
The Civil Aviation Authority says that advance warning is given where possible by means of a notice to airmen (NOTAM). Detailed information for the period 1 January 1988 to 23 April 1988 indicates that advance notice was given in each of the 22 closures that occurred during that period.
