To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he is taking in the light of the report from the National Deaf Children's Society on the failure of certain health authorities to discharge their statutory duty to deaf children under the Education Act 1981, to gather information from all health authorities about their degree of compliance with the Act.

The report is currently being studied, and we shall consider what action to take in the light of our conclusions.
