To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people were found guilty of, or cautioned for, the offence of indecency between males, for each year from 1967 to 1987, showing how many offences were committed against boys aged less than 16 years.

Information collected centrally does not identify those cases where the offence involved boys under the age of 16. Details of offenders found guilty or cautioned for all offences of indecency between males are published annually in "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales", copies of which are in the Library. The most recent figures, covering the years 1977 to 1986, can be found in table 5.14 of the issue for 1986 (Cm. 233). Data for 1987 are not yet complete.
