To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what contracts, and to what value, hake been placed with the university of Bristol for the funding of Tastrak plastic and radiation effects; and if he will make a statement.

No contracts have been placed concerned specifically with Tastrak which is the trade name of a plastic indicator. This is being used in the study, described in my reply to the hon. Member on 16 May at column 339,to determine the levels of activity present in teeth. The total cost of the study is £24,000.
