To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many civil servants in his Department and the Property Services Agency are also directors or consultants in (a) public liability companies, (b) companies limited by guarantee, (c) building societies,(d) other friendly societies and (e) commercial undertakings other than the above; and what rules or instructions govern these activities with particular reference to remuneration.

The following non-executive directorships of outside bodies have been arranged for officers of the Department of the Environment and the Property Services Agency:

No consultancies have been arranged in this way.For the most part these appointments are unpaid. Any fees which are paid are passed directly into public funds.
