Fylingdales Early Warning System

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if the upgraded ballistic missile early warning system radar at Fylingdales moor will give the United Kingdom more advanced warning of nuclear attack.

The purpose of the modernisation of the ballistic missile early warning system at RAF Fylingdales is not to improve warning time—Official Report, 22 May 1986, columns 263–64—although it may marginally do so.
