To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what progress has been made with the computerisation of Inland Revenue schedule D accounts.

Computerisation of schedule D assessing was introduced by the Inland Revenue in two of its 15 regions in April 1987. This proved to be a successful pilot exercise and in April of this year, on schedule, the system was introduced nationally.
