To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on his policy on signposting on the A55 of tourist attractions in Rhyl and Prestatyn and on the costs and future maintenance of the signs.

To be eligible for signing from a trunk road an attraction must have over 25,000 visitors a year, be within 20 miles of the nearest junction, have adequate parking and be open for 50 days or more a year. My officials have recently written to Rhuddlan borough council agreeing to signs for Rhyl and Prestatyn at the A55/A525 junction. It is our policy that the full costs of tourist attraction signs, including on-costs such as maintenance, should be paid by the operators of attractions.
